Our vision

Working together for the greater good

KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization whose mandate is to promote the use of dialogue globally to prevent and resolve conflict to enhance understanding and cooperation. Over a seven-year-long negotiation and development process, KAICIID’s mandate and structure were designed to foster dialogue among people of different faiths and cultures that bridges animosities, reduces fear, and instills mutual respect.

What we do

At KAICIID, we are dedicated to building peace through interreligious and intercultural dialogue. By convening conferences and fora and establishing networks and platforms across the globe, we create spaces where diverse stakeholders including religious leaders, policymakers, and civil society can collaborate to address the world’s most pressing challenges. These efforts align with our mission to foster understanding, reduce conflict, and build cohesive communities.

Global Networks

Through initiatives such as the KAICIID Fellows Programme and Connect2Dialogue, we support a global network of individuals and organizations working to advance dialogue and peacebuilding. The Fellows Programme empowers leaders across the world to promote conflict resolution and mutual understanding in their communities, while Connect2Dialogue facilitates the sharing of knowledge and best practices among dialogue practitioners globally. These platforms help to strengthen local efforts, enabling communities to overcome divisions and work towards sustainable peace.

Regional Networks

In Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Arab region, KAICIID convenes diverse groups to address local challenges through dialogue. Our work in these regions focuses on promoting social inclusion, preventing extremism, and fostering peaceful coexistence in multicultural societies. In Europe, we support efforts to address migration, hate speech, and integration, while in Africa, we help communities build resilience in the face of political instability, climate change, and intercommunal conflict. In Asia, our work focuses on inter-city collaboration, social cohesion and conflict prevention in religiously diverse societies, empowering communities to collaborate on shared goals. In the Arab region, we focus on fostering dialogue that counters extremism and empowers youth and women to become leaders in peacebuilding efforts. Across all regions, our convening power helps communities find common ground, build trust, and work together for a more peaceful and inclusive future.

Regional and Major Events

The International Dialogue Centre – KAICIID convened the KAICIID Global Dialogue Forum in Lisbon, Portugal, on 14-16 May 2024, building on its twelve years of experience creating dialogue platforms to address some of the most pressing global challenges. At the core of this Global Forum is the commitment to use transformative dialogue as a powerful mechanism to harness human dignity and foster global solidarity, particularly in the areas of peacebuilding, inclusive cities, and climate change. "It's important for me to become a teacher of religious studies because religion has a great deal of importance in my society. It gives society guidance about what is right and wrong. A lot of people don't understand this concept and I want to help them understand."
